Dantri builds new houses for two disadvantaged families in Hanoi

Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper has just helped build new houses for two families who are facing financial difficulties in Hanoi.

Dang Van Binh, 68, moved into his new house in Phuc Tho District on December 6. The man is blind, deaf and has to use a wheelchair. His 72-square-metre house was built with a fund of VND187 million. The money was taken from the donations of over VND325 million which readers sent to support the disabled man after his story was shared on Dantri Newspaper.

Binh, who lives alone, expressed his sincere thanks to Dantri and kind donors for helping him build a new house to replace his old one which had badly deteriorated.

"Thank you so much for your valuable support," he said. 

Also on December 6, Dantri Newspaper transferred a new house to Nguyen Thi Binh, 68, in Thach That District.

The blind woman is living with her older sister who is 75 years old now. Due to financial difficulties, the two women have been unable to build a new house to replace their old one which can collapse at any time.

Knowing about their story, Dantri/Dtinews donated nearly VND74 million which was taken from the newspaper's charity fund to help them build a new house. The Thach That District Blind Association contributed VND50 million. Besides, some other organisations and individuals also sent their donations.

And the new house for the two sisters was built with funding of nearly VND200 million.

Dantri Newspaper also presented an electric cooker, two blankets and some food supplements to Binh and her sister on the day they moved into their new house.

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has asked organisations and individuals to build 100 new houses for disadvantaged families nationwide between 2024 and 2025.

As a ministry publication, Dantri Newspaper has begun a campaign to build the houses with financial support from the newspaper's readers and donors. Each family will receive at least VND50 million.

As of December 8, 2024, Dantri had constructed 73 houses, 46 of which had been completed.
